Neighborhood Spotlight: Cypress

Welcome to area of Cypress, TX, located off 290, about 24 miles Northwest of Downtown Houston. Roads commonly mentioned as boundaries for the area are FM 529 road as the southern border, HWY 6 and FM 1960 as the eastern border, and HWY 249 as the northern border. The Cypress area ranks 50th in the top 100 highest-income urban areas in the United States. The area of Cypress dates back as far as Indian tribes and early German settlers of the late 1800s. You may recognize some of the more German sounding names, like Huffmeister Rd.

 

 

The 2010 census said there were  approximately 122,803 people, 39,705 households, and 32,762 families living in the zip codes labeled as Cypress, such as 77429. Cypress residents attend Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District. Lone Star College is also located here for those pursuing higher education.
