Neighborhood Spotlight – College Court Place

Neighborhood Spotlight – College Court Place

MapDo you want name brand value at a discounted rate? Just off Highway 59 and the 610 Loop, if you take a closer look at College Court Place you can find a place where you can enjoy some of the perks West University Place has to offer, for about 20% less per square foot.

In 1910 a governor from Tennessee had a vision of a community of country homes in the city, and his idea became a reality when he bought the tract of land southwest of Houston. In 1917, the first lot went up for sale that April.

If you would rather not sit in traffic, College Court Place is the neighborhood to investigate. Located between Highway 59 and the 610 Loop, this area offers a quick commute to downtown, The Medical Center, The Galleria, and Greenway Plaza. Instead of waiting in bumper to bumper Houston traffic for hours, you can reach downtown in about twenty minutes instead.

One of the top twenty schools of the nation resides near this area, Rice University. The school’s student-to-facility ratio is approximately 6-to-1, and gives back to the community in several ways. They offer programs that provide high quality professional development for teachers, counselors, and administrators for Kindergarten through 12th grade. To find out more, follow this link to Rice University’s website.

Before they can go to college, your children must be prepared. You are in luck, because College Court Place is zoned to a high ranking West University Elementary in Houston ISD, Pershing Middle School, and Lamar High School.

A plethora of dining experiences await you. Whether you want a quick bite from a fast food joint, or enjoy a sit down meal College Court Place has options.

Shop-til you drop at one, or all of the local shopping malls and/or retail stores in this area. There is the River Oaks District on Westheimer, which offers an array of fine restaurants, designer stores, and a luxury movie theater.  Or visit the prestigious Tiffany’s, Nordstrom, Christian Louboutin, and many more. Alternatively, visit the Rice Village shopping center for an eclectic shopping experience. This gem has been one of Houston’s oldest shopping destinations since the 1930’s.

If you love the arts, look no further. Visit the Moody Center for the Arts, the Main Street Theater, or the Rice University Art gallery to satisfy your creative side. If you prefer museums, there is the interesting Museum of Natural Science, The Holocaust Museum, or the Children’s Museum of Houston.

If you prefer to get outside, there are options for you. Relatively close by is the Hermann Park Conservancy, The Waterwall, and of course the Houston Zoo. At the Houston Zoo, you can feed the giraffes, enjoy the duck pond, and during the summer relax with your little ones at the splash pad.
